Rainy Days And Mondays Always Get Me Recording

JOLLY

Super Simonologist
I got shutdown from work today because of the rain. I came home, poured some whisky, grabbed some instruments and hit the record button. I've had the main original riff for a bit now, but I didn't really know what to do with it. So, like I said, I poured some whisky, and this is what I came up with. It's a total Metallica ripoff, as well as a crapolo demo, but I don't care. I just enjoy making music.

Sweet! I was listening to it and checking out other threads in a different tab. Brought up the smileys and realized that the tempo of this song was perfectly in sync with the dancing banana... check it out! (you may have to start & stop it a few times to get it in sync, but it's funnier 'n hell!)

cool! I really liked that metallica chug and the crazy guitar solo! :headbang:

Great, Ride The Lightning (album, not song) vibe for the first half and Thing That Should Not Be in the second half. Reminded me a smidge of Sanctuary, too. :) Don't worry if it sounds like Metallica, it's better than anything Metalllica has released in 30 years!
No need to preface your clips, the 'quality' is far less important than the creativity. Those that feel the irreistable urge to critique every clip rarely have their own clips to back up their claims...

Noted.

Here is some rough as first take guitar abuse, a mystery guest vocalist and a pesky artificial intelligence drum sequencer that plain refuses to trip over itself on the fills. The bass guitar was played with a mixture of nail and callus. It went down before the guitars. The recording could use a few more lines of voice mail vocal content. ;)

Well I think that you're headed for a whole lotta trouble...

...if you take your whiskey home.

Good stuff!

Great riffing. Huge guitar tones. Is that your amps miked up? Very cool lead playing.

Re: Rainy Days And Mondays Always Get Me Recording

Jolly, how/when do you add drums?

The inference in the wording of this question is that the drums on the finished mix were not the first instrument to be recorded. (It will not surprise some readers to learn that I agree with this conjecture.) It would follow that either a click track or an artificial intelligence auto drummer was used in the initial stages of the recording process.

The Roland VS is a self-contained, standalone, digital multi-track audio recorder with numerous synchronising capabilities. A MIDI drum machine could be slaved to the VS clock. If the underlying structure of the song is already decided, it should even be possible to enter tempo changes, bar by bar, before any audio is recorded.
