Randall settings

Hey all you crazy guitarists!! You know that awesome tone you can only get from a randall amp, either a combo or a head? That crushing, brutally supersonic sound that kicks the ass of any other amp on the market? Well how do you dial in your special sound, the one that makes your head flutter? What model do you play, and what are your settings for both clean and overdrive channels?

I have the same combo as you have RG100SC. I bought it because it just sounded way better than every other amp in its price range. However I bought it for the clean sounds, I think those are among the best I've ever heard coming out of a SS combo. To go brutal I just tap my MT-2 and hell bursts loose!

Seriously I wasn't really impressed with it's overdrive capabillities. Randall is marketing all their amps praising their brutal distortions suitable for metal. Well I wonder if you have gotten some real brutal tones out of the gain channels but I haven't. I've spend some serious time tweaking both channels but I just can't stand the hissy ice picky overdrive sounds it pumps out. Might be my settings but I rather just leave the tough work to the MT-2 which eagerly spits out some brutal tones.
Here are my settings, I have been tweaking them to search for the heaviest sound I could get:

gain 1: 6
gain 2: 10
Contour: 10
Bass: 10
Middle: 9
Treble: 7
Level: 10

gain 1 is wierd, when going past 6 I can only hear more noise and not more overdrive.
I don't use the od channels much, ocasionally od1 for some cool lead tones, but they sound too metallic IMO.
SS overdrive sucks...

thanks, guy... I also bought the 100SC for the cleans and since I also have a Boss MT-2, what settings do you use for it? I find I can get a kickass SoaD sound out of it by using these....

Low - 2 o' clock
High - 2 o' clock
Middle - 7 o'clock
Mid Freq - 11 o' clock
Dist - 2-3 o' clock

got any other suggestions?

For cleans I use :

Level: depends on location
Bass: 6
Middle: 8
Treble: 6,5
Reverb: 2
Master: depends on location

This amp has got some nice stereo chorus on it. Ever use that?
I find this amp pretty easy to dial in anywhere and can get freaking loud and still sound good. Great combo for the price.

Any time bro,
I'll try those settings and see how they compare to my settings. I went dialing it in for a Rectifier kind of distortion. I think I got pretty damn close too! Soundclips will follow in the future.
Note: I did do some little mods on it and will do some more in the future so these settings might not work out for you. And I have a set of duncans in my guitar which is an important and necisary ingredient for my sound.

High: 11 o' clock
Low: 2 o' clock
Middle: 1 o' clock
Mid Freq: 2 o' clock
Dist: 2 o' clock

Quite diffrent from yours huh see if you like it, I will be tweaking my settings some more because I am never completely satisfied with my settings but that's another story.
