Re: Randy Rhodes 1959 JMP cascade preamp?

Who's Randy Rhodes?

Randy Rhodes played guitar in Leo Fender's country band back in the 50's and eventually went to work for Leo making amps for Django Reinhardt. When Leo sold the Fender Company to ABC in 1965 Randy moved to England and went to work for James Marshall where he and Ozzy Osbourne co-designed the first Marshall amp: the Randy Rhodes 1959 Model. It's called the 1959 because it's based on the '59 Blackface Fender Bassman. It uses a unique pre-amp design in which five EL-34's are cascaded one into the other until tremendous levels of distortion is attained. Randy holds the Guinness Book of World Records record for holding and sustaining one note using continuous negative feedback: a high E held for 63 straight days.

Re: Randy Rhodes 1959 JMP cascade preamp?

I thought Thomas Organ did that.

Thomas is Randy's older brother. He's often confused with Randy. Randy's name is actually Randy Organ but he changed it to Randy Rhodes when he moved to England so that he wouldn't be confused with all of the other guys named Randy Organ. Lew

I'm at work trying to contain myself on that one. "Calling the Randy Organ party, your room is ready".

Re: Randy Rhodes 1959 JMP cascade preamp?

You must be an expert on organs then. You ever put tulips on one?

......aaand....time!

Just under three hours.

What happened?

I can count on a few things in this world; the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, the coffee at work always sucks and when ANY post is made on here with the word "organ" in it you're ripe to be in the middle of things with the usual array of jokes.

Seriously? Your response time is almost three whole hours?

Where were you?!?!?!
