Rare boss pedals...

Actually... no :laugh2: I don't get the hype about it. Maybe it's like a Mesa and how I felt before I tried a Mark IV this weekend. But I can;t seem to get a decent setting/sound out of it. It sounds too digital for my tastes. Maybe it's just me and my settings?

That's cool, the pedal is not for everyone. Let me know if you want to sell it. :)

I'll give it a run over again this weekend when I get home from college and I'll make a decision and let you know :laugh2:

Would you recommend that over a BBE?

It's got slightly different frequency curves and the later generation BBE stuff probably does sound better so if the 2 were placed in front of me now I'd choose the BBE but this little pedal does an excellent "BBE" job on the sound as well. The site is right, you don't really notice how much it puts back into your tone until you turn it off!

And I'd like to snag one of those RV3's as well. When i worked at GC we had people coming in all the time asking for them. Its a shame boss stopped making them. One guy actually got real mad at the news and went into this huge screaming fit about how the Evil Boss Corporation discontinued the RV3 so they could squeeze more money out of people with separate Reverb and Delay pedals... he's got a point :laugh2:

oh yea out of pure coincidence i managed to snag an OD-3 for 50 bux today!

Do you not like the Pedal?

I sold mine on Ebay, and I can't believe people like this thing. The delays and reverb had this metallic-ness you couldn't dial out.
The Line6 Delay sounds so much better, and the reverb on most amps would sound better than this thing. Ug.

I've got major gas for a Slow Gear! :laugh2:

The Boss VF-1 half-rack unit has one inside, so does my Roland GP-100...also, the PODs have them too. For the $ a single slow gear pedal is, just get a Boss VF-1 and enjoy the Dimension C/D and a host of other effects, all with amazing midi control over them.

Precisely how I feel about the thing...

I recenly picked up a Boss GT5 for $75 (i love getting hooked up on used gear at GC :22: ) and theres a slow gear built inside there as well. You can find them now in most boss multi units.

Oh god, you had to bring that one up too, didn't you! :32: :32: :32: GASSSSSSSSS

:laugh2: poor fella...

the RV-1 i think is a totally whacked out one - no 9v option, it *came with* a power supply, and is the only boss single pedal to not have the standard box... all for a delay pedal :laugh2:

just get a reverb tank, i would..

Re: Rare boss pedals...

wow, i didn't realize that rv-3's were such a precious commodity.

i got one for $30 a few months ago.

Re: Rare boss pedals...

its like an auto-volume swell i think, kind of simulates a E-bow (AFAIK)

Re: Rare boss pedals...

I've owned both the DC-2 and 3, the 2 i sold to a trusted friend, might have to get that back, the 3 I still have...The 2 is an analogue biphase chorus, the 3 is digital biphase chorus, they are kinda like having two choruses synched to each other with different rates and polarities (depth adjusted accordingly), very spacious, the 2 was ideal for electric classical work, the the 3 is much more flexible, however the 2 does have a certain tone that is great. Used in stereo they are great sounding additions to any line. They still don't take the place of a regular chorus though, as the effect is a bit different.

Thats exactly what it is... an auto volume swell effect.

Re: Rare boss pedals...

well, no, its more like just fading in every note below a certain threshold, there is no echo or delay at all. A really fun effect which takes awhile to control, but it sounds great.

Re: Rare boss pedals...

it goes a long way to making a guitar not sound like a guitar anymore heh - placed before whammy, delay or that kind of modulation effect, it can get really trippy.
