rare V SG

Re: rare V SG

I don't think there is a lot of middle ground with this design, you either love it or hate it.

I'm in the hate it category, give me an SG or a V, anything but that.

Re: rare V SG

That body style leaves me as confused as a blind lesbian in a tuna factory.........

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, Dean is making them from Dimebag sketches.. Another Dime idea. Gibson is making them for Zakk and selling the Bullseye ones for about $5000.
Those who buy the Gibbo ones are probably too embarassed to report they have been raped..

:omg: :31: :approve:

I thought that I hated this guitar too. Then I seen and played it in person. Two things, it's a lil smaller than it looks and it is a very managable shape after all.

On the Dime connection and Dean, I dont recall the Splittail on Dime's designs and the point in the thread I posted a link to about him having the 'tail built for Zack was incorrect. As I know it, Dean Z created the Splittail design with Ben Chafin, whom actually built it, perhaps after a Zack suggestion, to entice Zack to become a Dean endorsee. Zack in turn got brought back to Gibber with his version and a VERY Phat contract. Zack's SG/V looks a lot better with the Les Paul head than the V style on Peterik's Green one. The Dean style 'stock looks even better on it. It does have ML aesthetics to it's look though.

As far as the Dime designs go, Dean Guitars has made just about all the guitars AND all the price levels that Dime had presented to Dean as part of his agreement to become a Dean endorsee. His Estate chose to continue the contract with Dean Guitars I'm sure for many reasons among them money. Dont forget he had a large following and IIRC Washburn also made and continues to make a ton of Dime related guitars. Are they all wrong?

Re: rare V SG

I like it a lot, but unsure of if I would ever want to actually put down a good sum of money and buy one for myself. Especially over a V or explorer type.

Re: rare V SG

I love those Splittails. It's not a shape that's as well known or iconic as an Explorer or ML but I'd bet it would be easier to play.

I don't know if it is wrong, but it is creepy. And an obvious grab for cash from everyone involved. But hey, I have a problem with Fender using Hendrix and Rhodes too. There are a lot of great, living players with large followings out there.

Re: rare V SG

hm....is the SG half still regular size or is it smaller that a normal SG?

i think the design would look okay in a classic SG finish like trans cherry. maybe a pickguard that borrows from the V's would be neat too.

i'd gladly take one for cheap

Re: rare V SG

Korean made ones are $899 list before case. Not bad.

Hey Mincer, Dean ownership not a requirement. I'll send you links.....
