Rate my tone... Flame away

A quick improv. It sucks, but done in 5 minutes. And no it's not brootz.

It's my tele into my g system(4cm) with a BB Preamp for slight boost into my Stiletto lead channel(50w setting) into a rectifier 212 with V30's.

Flame away!

A very smooth, professional-sounding tone. Fits the backing track.

That having been said...

not my cup o tea.

Too wet, too much saturation, to much covering up any personality that could be coming from the guitar. I hear the track, I don't think "that sounds like a badass boutique Tele," I think "Ah yes, someone is wearing a leather jacket, walking through the rainy streets of New York at night. In a Cop Drama from 1992."

Nice playing and feel, though. You have a good sense of timing off the cuff and that's actually a better skill than pure speed chops, IMHO.

Nice chops for sure. I like the Bridge pickup tone. The neck is a bit too dark for my taste and gets kinda lost in the processing and mix.

Re: Rate my tone... Flame away

I was expecting something really cutting, bright and snappy (Tele thru a Stiletto and Vintage 30's pre-staged my ears to that notion) The tone it's really fat and smooth, but I do agree that you could get lost in the mix with the way is set-up. I like it though, it fits the tune and your playing it's pretty tasteful. Did you Mic'd it or did you used the camera's mic? That might be changing our preception of the sound you are actually getting at home.

By the way, I love your tele :fing2:

My kind of tone...warm sweet & fat...it sounded awesome. Excellent playing too..that was cool to watch.. :)

...that Tele looks sick btw!

Re: Rate my tone... Flame away

Thanks guys. It was the camera phone. It did get a little dark on the 4th position. I'm gonna do an actual recording one day.

Dig a lot of the phrases. Tone seems to fit. If it helped you pull off the phrases then it's the right tone.
