Really weird tone control issue

Today I got my first ever 7 string guitar, a cheap Schecter Omen-7. It's actually a really great playing guitar and sounds good. I'm having a very odd issue with the tone control though, which I hope I can explain clearly.

First, it's a 2 humbucker guitar with a 3 way Gibson style toggle switch. No fancy splits or anything. One master volume and, as far as I can tell, master tone.

The volume control works as it should on both pickups. The tone pot works as expected on the neck pickup, rolling off to a nice creamy sound with no real loss of gain.
But when I am using the bridge pickup and roll the tone control back, it seems to work like a volume - and if I roll it right down it completely neuters the gain (but there's still sound, it doesn't make it silent).

It's really annoying.

I thought it must be the capacitor, so I changed it for an orange drop. No difference. Okay, must be the pot. Changed the pot. No difference? WTF?!

So, to sum up -

Master tone control works as expected for the neck pickup, but kills the gain on the bridge pickup. WTF is the deal?

Ultimately, I don't use the tone control on any bridge pickup anyway, but I'm thinking even on 10 this issue MUST be neutering the bridge pickup even a little and that's no good on a 7-string metal machine.

So I'd like to a) know why this is happening just for my own interest and b) maybe a wiring diagram to rewire it so the bridge pickup isn't connected at all to the tone control, just the master volume.

a good close up. detailed pic of the wiring might help. also could be the switch?

Okay, tried to get some pics. Probably not very clear but I took a few to try and let you guys see what goes where. Just as an aside, I mentioned this issue on Facebook and a guy said he had the same model guitar a few years ago and it had the very same issue! It could be the exact same guitar but he's in the US and I'm in Scotland so doubtful!

Re: Really weird tone control issue

Does it match this as-is?

Yeah I spent a bit of time looking at the diagrams and that did seem to match fine as far as I could see.

Problem is solved now anyway - I just connected the tone control directly to the neck pickup lug on the switch so it doesn't affect the bridge pickup at all now (when only bridge is selected).
Strange issue I would love to know the cause of, but at least I have the guitar sounding exactly as I wanted with no issues!

Now I just need a nice 7-string bridge pickup like an Invader or Distortion! :bigok:
