Reamped the last song today -- THE MERCHANT PRINCES (prog rock inside)

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
Completed the final reamp tracks today. There are a LOT of guitar tracks here, though they follow the same basic pattern as the other tracks I have posted: SM57/SSL/EAST Studio 2/Bogner Harlow/Bogner Uberschall or Empress Heavy/Eminence Swamp Thang or Wizard

The clean guitar is a Lil Dawg Champster/Nick Greer Sweetback Driver. Echo is a 1776 Multiplex set for either a Echoplex or Binson EchoRec.

All of the tracks on this song are my Lollar Imperial equipped Agile AL2500.

Sounds awesome :bigthumb: love the warm/middy/vintage (heavy) rhythm guitar tones....they remind me a lot of Alex Lifeson's tone's on the early Rush stuff - just with more gain. Sweet warm fat sounding solo's & the cleans sound great too!

Thanks!

Funny you should mention Lifeson (an obvious influence on my playing); when I was reamping the guitar parts, my wife was like, yeesh -- sounds like A Farewell To Kings outtake!! :D

Amazing production and guitar tones -- pro caliber for sure. This is one of my favorite songs by you as well -- it's so ambitious that it's incredible how well all the different parts transition into one another. Great riffing as well. Really looking forward to this new album of yours T.O. Do you plan to have vocals in the final version? I kind of don't think it needs them, but I'm biased because the overpowering hard-rock/metal style (like in your last full length) doesn't get my rocks off like it used to, and a lot of these recent instrumentals of yours really appeal to my sensibilities. Great work on this! Sounds huge compared to the original.

Thanks! Still a ways away from the finished product; final live drums instead of the loops, and an actual mix. Don't know if you will have any interest, but for this album I will be doing screencasts of the mix sessions in overview. Basically outlining how I fit all this madness together. :) The owner/head instructor over at mix lessons.com (Dezz Asante) said he likes my mixes and asked if I could make some screencasts showing the process.

Thanks; I agree, this one will be very interesting. It came together (the entire album) rather quickly and I like the dark thematic elements. The beginning section is all instrumental -- it's the same progression that is on next month's release: GALACTIC ENTROPY.

There will be vocals, but not much. As this follows the book's narrative pretty closely, there needs to be some exposition. Plus, I like singing, and really love Kurt's voice.
