I have problems with properly set up the Reaper for good recording. the problem is phasing and dubling effect when i record a guitar. it sounds like fiuufiuufiuu in the background of every recording.. i haven't got that problems in other recording software, it's just with Reaper. what the hell is going on ?

Re: Reaper issues, need help

What computer are you using? What input/output device(s) are you using? How have you set the monitoring and latency controls?

Re: Reaper issues, need help

I just really want to set that Reaper for recording properly...

My hardware is:

Intel Core i5 CPU M520 2.40 GHz, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 64 bit, Roland DUO-Capture MK2 External Device, M-Audio BX5 monitors ( i don't really think the hardware could be an issue, as it doing normal in Presonus Studio One and in Cakewalk Sonar)

Monitoring and latency controls ?

Audio System: ASIO
ASIO Driver: Duo Capture
Enable Inputs: first 1 IN, last 2 IN(R)
Output Range: first 1 OUT, last 2 OUT(R)
Request Sample Rate: 44100
Request Block Rate: 256
Audio Thread Priority: ASIO default,MMCSS Pro Audio,Time Critical
Allow projects to override device simple rate

Anyone have a clue what is actually going on ?

Re: Reaper issues, need help

From your description, it seems as if you are hearing the guitar signal twice. Once, as it enters Reaper and a second time as part of the overall stereo monitoring output. This is a Settings issue. The solution lies hidden somewhere in a menu.

Hardware-wise, is the DUO Capture set to 44100 or 48000?

Running a DAW and numerous plug-ins places heavy demands on CPU and RAM. 4GB may not be enough.

Re: Reaper issues, need help

I am trying to find where exactly can be a problem, but no luck yet... it's strange. my DUO Capture is set to 44100.

Re: Reaper issues, need help

do you have a lot of plugins running at the same time? you may not have enough processing power. good advice from the folks here; also you might try the reaper forum if you need maore help with settings.

Here's the Reaper user forum, it's helped me out lots of times.

It might be a sound card settings issue. That sounds like some (unintentional) looping is going on.
Also, check your individual channel record monitor settings; that happened to me once.

Re: Reaper issues, need help

Ok, some good news, the unwanted effect has completly gone away :) now i can start learning Reaper.
