Rearranged my pedalboard. Rig pics.

Re: Rearranged my pedalboard. Rig pics.

EH DMM is hands down the best sounding delay pedal out there IMO.

Is there any circuitry, tonal, or craftsmanship differences between the old box and new box EH Deluxe MM's? Are they the same thing, only smaller, or is it Chinese, while the big enclosure discontinued model is THE ONE to get? Any clue?

The new small one is in the XO series and I've not yet tried it however the reviews and clips are killer and Mike P from AnalogMan says it is a very good sounding unit stock out of the box. FWIW, EH is still selling the big box versions until they just run out of boxes...

Also, there are a few changes that were made over the years...none of them were a very big deal and IMO all the big box DMM's sound killer...they can benifit from a few tweaks and such but even stock they are killer.

Re: Rearranged my pedalboard. Rig pics.

I'm really leaning toward trying a delay that has a unique character I like. The Roland Space Echo might really be fun.
I'm also thinking of holding out for a Duncan, and see how that one is.

The space echo pedal certainly isn't lacking character... doesn't have the exact vibe of an original 201... the noise and the muck, the glue... but IMO judged on its own merit I can't find much to fault. Though presets would've been nice.

FWIW - Howard Davis was involved with the design of the Echolution... and some of the other pigtronix pedals.

Re: Rearranged my pedalboard. Rig pics.

Do you still have that Gibson amp?

Yeah, it's a great amp too. It's like a really aggressive gainy AC-30 going through 2 Vintage 30's with stereo reverb. Someday, those Goldtones will be sought after, so hopefully I'll always hang onto it.

The reason I like the Ecstasy so much is because any tone in your head can be dialed up, from the most crystalline cleans, punchy cleans, woody cleans, plexi cleans, then the entire rainbow of gain tones.
Mine has the Class A/Class AB option. I use the mixable effects loop to bring in the Holy Grail on top of my amp - just to have a subtle spring reverb sound. Mixed into the FX loop, it's hard to believe it's not a Fender spring reverb, it sounds so natural.
My clean tone sounds like a Super Reverb being fed to a 412 cab.

Yeah, I heard that.

Truth is the Echoloution is an amazing unit but it's not for me...not only did I find it hard to use frankly I wasn't blown away by the tone.

Christian said this to me a few years ago...and I haven't looked back. I love mine. It's an old one I traded to Keith for. It has no true bypass and has ghosting....but I like that lo-fi sound.

Re: Rearranged my pedalboard. Rig pics.

have you played a deja vu yet?
if so, can you compare and contrast the +s and -s of the EH DMM and the deja vu

I have not tried the Deja Vu...I don't mess with delay pedals much to be honest, my Echoplex has ruined all pedals for me on some level but the DMM is the next best thing to a tape echo IMO.

You've said that before... that it was hard to use. What's so hard? I mean, it certainly is deeper then a Boss or the DMM, but I don't even see how the DMM and Echolution could be compared, they're so different. One's a straight up analog delay and the other is a digital delay with all the trimmings... looping, reverse, switchable modulation that goes from a slap echo or slight vibrato to seasick warble...

Or was that what was so confusing? All the options? The tap switches are pretty simple...

Re: Rearranged my pedalboard. Rig pics.

I just like things to be simple and straight forward but what really got me down was that after I sat down and figured it all out I just wasn't that impressed with the pedal in general...

Re: Rearranged my pedalboard. Rig pics.

Mmmmm... yeah. Everything else sucks when you have a tube Echoplex.

I dug some the 2290-ish stuff it could do... if it wouldn't require getting much larger pedalboard I wouldn't hesitate to add one. The physical size of it would eat like 2/3's of my board...

Re: Rearranged my pedalboard. Rig pics.

send the line 6 to me (ill cover shipping) If I can fix it I will give you some change for it. If not, well at that point you can decide.

Re: Rearranged my pedalboard. Rig pics.

Despite your great selection of pedals, do you ever need to engage one while playing that ES-335 with the ecstacy clean channel? I can't think of a better combo...(ahem...just send 'em over to make sure...)

Honestly? No. The ES-335 needs nothing but a cable and an amp. It's one of my favorite guitars I've ever owned, and I'll never sell it.
