I'm putting a scalloped neck on it but I'm not building it for shred. I rarely use the middle pickup, what pup configuration would you suggest? I'm going for a jazzy kind of thing but I want a little crunch when I want it.
If you don't use the middle pickup or the middle combinations . . . maybe go with a teleish setup. A tele neck pickup works as well as a humbucker for smooth, clean jazz. Paired with a tele bridge pickup (or a twangbanger) it should get you a little crunch from the bridge.
I setup an LTD ST-213 Strat with a STK-S4 neck and STK-S7 bridge, dummy middle single coil (because I don't like the look of 2 singles on a Strat). Really like the middle position (both pickups in parallel). The bridge can crunch or stay clean as you like. Those pickups are noiseless.
I have a bridge spec, lil screaming demon in the neck pos on another strat that I really like, how do you think a lil 59 would match with that? I've got a jbjr in the bridge now that I'm not all that excited about
A Little Demon and Little 59 is a great combo. And if you already know how the Little Demon sounds, it sounds great. I am not a fan of the JB Jr either.
Ok ok... I didn't want to make it a 2 full-size humbucker guitar... But what if I put a a full size 59 & a full size Demon in it?
How do you think that would work?

The Demon and the 59 go great together, it's been my favorite HH set for a long time now. I ended up doing mag swaps and whatnot, as well as swaping screw poles around in my SG copy. Ended up with a Demon A8 double philister screws, and the 59 A4 with the hex screws from the demon then threw Artie's de-mud mod on the 59 to clear up the low end a bit more. But that's just nit picky stuff. The stock Demon and 59 are great pickups, especially together.
Yeah, the 59 and Demon are a great set. They also split pretty well so you can have a master split switch for both if you are into that sort of thing...I'd use an S1 switch for that.
