Reccomend me a pickup for good clarity for chord work

Re: Reccomend me a pickup for good clarity for chord work

For the bridge of a strat: Custom 3 (maple neck, ash body) or a JB (rosewood neck, mahogany body), for a Les paul: Custom, Custom 8

Gee.. sorry guys.. I have to mention.. Its going into a Epiphone DOT and I dont play metal.. Hard Rock is as far as it goes. And very little of that.

Mainly in the Middle of the road pop/Rock stuff. And slight break up kinda tones.

The Pearly Gates or Pearly Gates + would be my choice for the styles you listed.

what benjy said and do consider the 59 model.

59 or Jazz.

59's!

Re: Reccomend me a pickup for good clarity for chord work

59's brighter than Pearly Gates?

Am I hearing correctly?

Good suggestions so far. I also like the Duncan Alnico 2 bucker. Dimarzio Classic PAFS also work well for clarity.

Check out Zhangliquin. If you want clairty, I guarantee he'll wind you clarity...with tone to boot!

I also dig Toneriders PAF Alnico lV and Jon Moores A3 buckers. Exceptional tone, detail and clarity.

The PG has alot of percived brightness but, for the style of music the fellow wants, I trully think the 59's will excel better than any other Duncan bucker. Just my personal opinion. If he wants even more clarity than the 59's offer, go with the jazz set.

I've liked the '59 for such tones. A big open sound, nice dynamics, reacts well to the volume pot. It can be too bright for some people, though.

My PhatCat in the neck and custom custom bridge works perfectly in my les paul, sound very good for rock and hard rock, and the chords shine through on the CC with a good bit of distortion.

The AII pro set would be an excellent pickup for that style guitar. Some people woule say Seths, but the Seths are kind of strong in the bottom and I feel they make a 335 neck pickup a little muddy. My choice would be the AII pros. Very versatile pickup. The cleans they produce are really nice and Slash uses this in ahis Les Pauls so that should give you an idea of the type of drive you can get with them. IMHO these pickups are the closest to real PAF's that SD or anyone else for that matter makes.
