Recent Mag Lok experiences and string gauge question.

Hi,
I use 9.5, 11.5, 16, 24,34,44. This is a set from D'Adarrio. I use a very well mantained and beautifully set up Fender 2 point Trem. Drilled so ball end stops at block and touches nothing on the way to the saddle. No friction. Roller nut. Locking tuners.
Issue-when I bend any of the top strings up w/my fingers I generally go from a step to all out Albert King C-E bend in key of A. The whole Trem bar goes down far enough that a low E goes to a lower D. That means I am pushing against a lot of tension. I do not want to have thinner high strings and bigger low strings so it won't move as much. I also DO NOT want to use more springs as 3 feels good but 4 feels too much. I tried 3 Raw Vintage and they felt so tight I could feel my Trem bar bend just a tad. That's too much for me. 2 Raw Vintage = 3 J.Beck black covered springs as far as tension goes. As Pepe says: *For Me*
So, after searching, I could not find much under Mag Lok. It is advertised everywhere and is supposedly the second coming of guitar fixes. I understand the idea behind it and everything works just dandy on YouTube, but can any of you real world, smart forum folks chime in on this as it would be a blessing if it held up its promise. I will gut myself with a rusty butter knife before I'd ever angle my claw. Just sayin' so we don't go there. Really asking you guys, please talk to me.
Thank you

Re: Recent Mag Lok experiences and string gauge question.

I think you are more or less stuck with the major problem of a Fender trem. It's pure physics.

Re: Recent Mag Lok experiences and string gauge question.

Thanks,
Appreciate your input GuitarDoc and could not agree more about pure physics, but you did not address at all the pure physics question-which is-can anyone help me out with any knowledge of real world experience about this Mag-Lok piece of gear. Talk about physics, with this one loaded with magnet claims - to hold strings in place while finger bending - this is what comes after the pure physics of my trem. I added all the info ABOUT my trem so there would be no wasted answers, like: use heavy bottom, light top strings etc. So my original question about the Mag-Lok still stands unanswered. Again, appreciate you even reading my posts. I go into detail and most folks tend to pass it up.
But details up front helps shorten the answer time in many posts as people don't have to ask things that I have already said. It is meant to help me and responders. Thanks again.

Re: Recent Mag Lok experiences and string gauge question.

Sorry if my response was superfluous or wasted time. I don't have any experience with Mag Lok, just set-up of stock trems.

Re: Recent Mag Lok experiences and string gauge question.

PS: Super V is a good company with lots of innovations. I suspect that there is some merit to the Mag Lok.

Re: Recent Mag Lok experiences and string gauge question.

Thanks, GuitarDoc,
You are one my many forum hero guys. There are about ten or so names whose opinion I value so I am super defferential to you guys. Of course you did not waste my time. And you are correct that it seems like a good idea, all things being equal. Looks like maybe I'll just have to buy one to find out. I doubt the G.Center would let me screw one into my guitar on the spot to try out. Unless they have one in the repair room. The G.Center is the only brick and mortar store I can get a ride to for 20 miles in any direction.
Hell, I don't remember what they cost, but in the grand sceme of things, I have paid for so much crap over a lifetime of gear hunting, a Mag-Lok is a way better bet than some things that have cost an arm and wound up in the parts shed!
So, thanks for at least taking the time to answer again. I am off to the online marketplace. Hey, maybe I could even get a money back deal if I go through the super-vee company.

Re: Recent Mag Lok experiences and string gauge question.

Steve,
good luck. Let us know what you come up with...how well it functions. I for one am very interested.

Re: Recent Mag Lok experiences and string gauge question.

I'd be interested in some real world feedback if you end up installing one. The product looks pretty interesting.

Re: Recent Mag Lok experiences and string gauge question.

Hi,
I found a 2-3 page older thread on the gear page, but I did not find it on their page when I searched their forum, but I found it when I searched Google. Go figure. They were talking about a "new" Mag-Lok being in the works, and I am calling the company if I can get them before they close down for the day to ask them. I am a HUGE insomniac. Look at the time I am posting this, so I sometimes fail to get up in time. Will do my best and report any news when I can get some. The Mag-Lok ll was not listed on thier site. We'll see what's up. I need this type of fix as I love my trem as is. Minus the bend tension!
