Recent score: ADA MP-1

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

Good score man! I never had an MP-1, but I did have an MP-2 that I used for quite a few years before I got my '85 ENGL 620 tube preamp, which Im still using, and it's feeding a '93 Marshall 9200 thru a 1960B cab. I would really like to get another MP-2 or maybe an MP-1 or MP-1 Classic.
Whats that Mesa unit that you have? Whats up with that puppy?
That's cool that the ADAdepot is back up!

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

Great tone! I've got a 59 in the neck of my guitar & some a4 mags I picked up from a forum member months ago. I need to get that mag swapped!

Thanks...

That Mesa is my good old V-Twin that I bought from Sam Ash in NYC back in 1996...

:)

It's hell of a preamp.

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

I've always wanted one of those. Congratulations

Me too! Back in "the day" seems like everyone I liked was running one. You can use a regular amp for a power amp right? Funny, all this gear (ADAs, Rockmans and all) was out of favor a few years ago and you could get it dirt cheap.. Now, its all going back up. I scored a Rockman chorus rack unit for a pretty good price. Then had it refurbed. My beef with it tho is that it doesnt have a bypass. When its off, you have nothing to the amp.

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

Around this part of the world such equipment can be bought for quite a good price. So this trend has not started around where I live...

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

I am jonesing for a Lexicon MX400 to use it together with this beast... The GAS is strong!

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

Just finished this... Fresh outta Cubase...

I am using my old Roland GP16... I guess it's still fine and I (keep telling myself that) I don't need an MX400. :D

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

That Class of 89 ad was always one of my favorites. Even as a kid I thought it was absurd to have Kirk Hammet, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Paul GIlbert, and Vito Bratta in an ad but have Atomic Tommy McClendon as the main picture.

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

The ADA MP-1 is a really nice Pre-amp. Good score my friend!

I've tried both the MP-1 and the MP-2 but I liked the MP-1 way more than I did the MP-2. It was a much easier Pre-amp to tweak. No matter how many times I tried to tweak the MP-2, I could never get a satisfying tone out of it. Maybe it was just me. Plus it was used so the guy before had all these pre-sets in that he used that I didn't find usable. Probably should've tried to figure out how to reset it or something.

Nevertheless, the MP-1 was a great Pre-amp and I found lots of usable tones and it was way more user friendly. The MP-2 just had way too much going on with it IMO.

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

ADA MP1 > Yamaha SPX90 > BBE Sonic Maximizer > Power Amp > Speaker of Choice = :headbang:

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

Hmmm. I've had the mp1 for years, pickedup an spx90 last year. Maybe need to find myself a sonic maximizer.

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

Only if I could score an old Yamaha SPX90 ... Nevertheless, I have a strong urge to substitute it with either a Lexicon MX400 or a TC M350. Both of them are fine, no? And a BBE Sonic Maximizer...

300 dollars...

:scratchch

Definitely doable!

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

I know it's subjective, but what's the "good" sonic maximizer model? There's always *that one* that "everyone" says is the good one, all the others suck, etc etc.

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

Really? I'da thought for sure it was one of the older 4xx models. At least that was the word a few years ago, IIRC.

Re: Recent score: ADA MP-1

Nice score Doc! I see you have a Roland GP-16. I actually still use an old GP-8 for chorus and delay. The thing still sounds surprisingly good.
