Recessing a fixed bridge

Hey all, I'm gathering info for my first warmoth project and I have another question, I want a fixed bridge but not a typical Fender style, I was thinking of something like these:

I am not a huge fan of angled necks and was wondering if I could recess either of these into the body to eliminate the need for neck pocket angle.

I don't think the actual woodworking will be a huge deal, I figured I'd make a template and use a plunge router or something....would this work?

Also how would I know how deep to go?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

p.s. I've been told that the Gotoh 510 and bridges like it are best suited for carved top guitars...is this so and why? Thanks!

You could recess them into the body. Of course you need to be handy with a router and need to make a template. It can be done. The Gotoh 510 will be alot easier though. The hard part will be making a template that is accurate and routing on a arch top can be a challange also. It can be done though.

The 510 is probably best suited to carved tops because the necks have angled pockets! Unless you are absolutely sure of your woodworking skills, I would avoid trying this. If it's even a bit off, it can basically ruin the project by preventing the strings from intonating/playing properly. What's your objection to Fender style bridges? I'm sure you can have other types installed, either go with the angled neck pocket or talk to an experienced guitar tech. Or call the Warmoth people, maybe they have some thoughts (if you catch them on a pleasant day).

Thanks guys, I'm still considering this but the tolerance thing kind of scares me, I dont want to screw up the project over something like this when other options are available soooo....
