i already figured out in my time of dying, and ive started working on some of my own slide songs.

i still need to learn some of the basics, and how to play a bit of lead or at least a fill on slide

reccoment some "standards" or just plain good slide songs that are pretty simple (im still having difficulty holding the slide right so it dont buzz) so i can get an idea of slide playing, and figure out some cool stuff

i find it easier to learn a technique of playing by playing it, rather than trying to learn how to do it.
may have missed it in the long list of slide tunes. What about "Tell Mamma" Savoy Brown?

Don't rush into Johnny Winter. Especially his electric slide work. And if you do, it is very natural to get upset and quit playing! I know I've been there. :D

Ry Cooder rules. Check a DeNiro movie, midnight run. Not a bad movie but the soundtrack RULES, and guess who is playing. I don't know if the album had the same name (just might) but check the album with a song called "chicken skin music". Great tasty slide music. That man is one of the best guitar players there ever was.

Another fav of mine is Foghat. Their live album, Foghat Live contains great rock and roll slide work.

But then again you will benefit going to the roots and learning what the hell Robert Johnson was doing. I know many might disagree but I think slide playing is more about the right hand, instead of the left. (Assuming you are not a lefty.) Using only the pick, to pick the strings will make it very difficult. For Duane's, Johnnies, Johnson's, Gibbons'... magic you gotta learn either (1) use your hand without a pick or (2) better yet use your finger and the pick!
