Well, time's come for the schecter to get a new bridge. Anyone got anything in particular to recommend to me? Tonepros seems a bit expensive for my taste however.

editted to say- also, stewmac.com doesn't seem to have an option for 14" radius bridges. where should I get mine?

open to any suggestons:)
thanks,
slade

Tonepros - If you can't afford it, save your pennies up...

Tonepros!

Re: Recommend a Tune-O-Matic bridge replacement?

Tonepros is the only way to play. Or, buy a Gotoh Tuneomatic, take it to a machinist, and have him drill it for a set screw. I've heard of people turning regular Tuneomatic bridges into Tonepros bridges that way.

well... guess I'd best start saving up then! can I order one anywhere in a 14" radius? I can only seem to find them in 10" anywhere...

i read that tonepros are actually gotoh bridge/tailpieces drilled for set screws. i don't know the truth to that however. slade, is yours a string-thru-body/t.o.m guitar? i tried an ibanez gibraltar iii bridge and i liked it alot (those from the sz series). you can get one from an ibanez dealer ($40 as listed on ibanez website) add tonepros locking studs and you have a winner.

actually, they are 12" in radius. if you need a 14", you will need to file the middle 4 saddle slots to flatten the radius.

String through Schecter:) I love the sz bridge actually... didn't know I could buy one seperately, not easily anyways. (you're talking the one with the little guards to make palm muting comfortable, right?)

Sounds good to me.

oh yeah, 12"... there you go:D well, I got some files, so I suppose I'm set there.

If you just need the bridge and not the tailpiece, it shouldn't be that expensive to go the Tonepros route. As others have mentioned, the radius is set by filing the saddles in such a way that they match the radius.

I'd go Tonepros. Such a great idea.

FWIW, the bottom of the Tonepros bridge on my Schecter does say Gotoh.

Re: Recommend a Tune-O-Matic bridge replacement?

Gotoh on mine, too, but I don't know if you'll need to shave anything for the 14" radius, Mine appears stock, althought it might come factory radiused (SP? wtf...haha) for Schecters.

Re: Recommend a Tune-O-Matic bridge replacement?

a bit of a silly question but...if i swap my schecter tonepros saddles into a 12" radius tonepros it will then be the correct 14" radius correct? or are there other factors that play a roll in radius with a tune-omatic style bridge? i'm used to dealing with strats and such with individual saddles....sorry for what may be a common sence question but i just rather make sure first.
