Im looking to do some recording in my basement jam room. Im looking for somthing that i can plug into my laptop using my yamaha emx2000 soundboard as the main mixer control etc.

Im not really sure what i should be looking at so advice is appreciated. I would llike somthing that comes with some form of software if available also.

thanks!

Re: recommend an interface.

You can't beat the Line6 offerings, in my opinion.

Mixer -> POD Studio -> Laptop

They have some very utilitarian software, as well, with compressors, different mic preamp models, etc. to fine tune your sound. Not to mention all the guitar and amp modeling if you'd rather plug a guitar or bass into it than the output of your mixer.

Re: recommend an interface.

I bought an Mbox Mini. It came with Pro Tools LE & I use it with a Beheringer Vamp and a Mac Laptop using Garage Band mostly. The sounds I get are very good but I have not used it much lately. I did most mixing in Garage band, but I'm not attempting to do anything to fancy.

Bottom line the Mbox; with Pro Tools Le was about $200.
