Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

Re: Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

True, it's a hell of a pedal for just about any sort of metal..hard to beat really.

I just got one of each of these to mess around with (on the way) can't wait to check them out. For $50 apiece I could'nt resist adding them to my huge cheap/awesome distortion pedal collection :laugh2:

I best they'd sound great just to jam/mess around with or even for recording..

Re: Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

No messing with pedal boards & effects chains..just plug and play. They sound pretty awesome in the demo's :bigthumb:

Re: Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

Also, the Nxgen Visa pedal (ebay) ..killer tones for anything from hard rock to 80's metal...

Re: Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

More Visa..Just because this dude can play his ass off :bigthumb:

...thread needs some videos anyway :D

Catalinbread dirty little secret
Friedman ob-be
Maybe any of the legend line from Amt like R1?

Re: Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

Line 6 M13?

;)

Lol

It seems to be doing it's thing pretty well now, actually. You'll find details in that topic by yours truly.
I still might buy a cheap dirt unit to take to gigs where I don't wanna take the big ass board with me.

Maybe a Jackhammer again? :)

Re: Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

Dirt pedals are maybe the toughest addiction of them all. You know you've hit rock bottom if you find yourself buying a second metal zone.

I've already had two Metal Zones at one point. First one I kept stock and the other I modified. :D Both sold now.
If I buy a Jackhammer, it's gonna be my THIRD time with one of those.

All the hate for the Metalzone just makes me love mine more.

AMT R2 for Mesa like tones (rectifier) on a budget. Not a mark series, but in the Mesa wheelhouse. There's one on eBay for $115 shipped.

AMT pedals aren't that expensive around here, and I've never tried one. Their local distributor has almost all their catalog in stock.
Guess I should pay them a visit.

I did discover that turning the mid control to about 8:00 and then boosting it to about 2:00 while turning the mids down on the amp gives that classic death metal tone that everyone tries to get by just turning the mids down on the pedal.

Re: Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

Yeah, MXR is totally badass! It's the best pedal I've ever used. It does it all, any type of metal.

Re: Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

My favorite distortion pedal of all time: Boss MD-2 Mega Distortion.

It's a really versatile pedal. The Dist knob gives a straight rock distortion; The Gain knob is more of an overdrive by itself; and the combination makes a metal distortion. I liked to balance the tone, gain, dist, & vol knobs with the bass knob all the way down first. Then fade in the bass knob at the end.

Re: Recommend me a nice distortion pedal.

Walrus audio iron horse is worth considering and you could find one in that price range, especially used. Doesn't have a three band but it's very versitile and has great mids and sensitive tone controls. It can go from dirty boost to near fuzz territory, and your diode selection switch gives more mid adjustments as well. Just worth checking out in my opinion!
