Recommend me a SD pickup!!

OK, I have this pickup...it's a bridge pickup...and it sounds GREAT!!! But I may need to get a mate for it. (I liked it so much I may end up ripping out some actives in one of my guitars and installing this pickup with a mate.)

The pickup is a bridge pickup, Alnico 2, at about 9.1k ohms resistance. I need to find a neck pickup to mate it with. Personally, I'm not really choosy...I've had good luck with some A5 pups I've bought. As far as the personality of the pickup, it's sort of in line with a '57 Classic Plus by Gibson (maybe just a wee bit hotter)...and it's a handwound.

So...does Seymour have anything that would go good with this? Stylistically I'm all over the map...so it doesn't have to be anything matched per se by genre...I'm just primarily looking for something with the relative output so it'll be a fairly matched set. (I was tempted to pull a Burstbucker Pro out of another guitar...but I'm not sure it's hot enough to mate with this one....)

Re: Recommend me a SD pickup!!

9.1k can mean alot of different things tonally but assuming #42 with an even wind, i would say most neck pups would match up. so 59n or pearly gates neck for example

You can never go wrong with a '59n pickup. Amazing in every way.

It's a P.A.F. type pickup and in my opinion does very well in every genre of music as well as mixes pretty well with any bridge pickup.

Re: Recommend me a SD pickup!!

any duncan PAF will get you in the ballpark. after that try magnet swaps, pickup height, polepiece height and amp settings.

Hmm...

Thanks for the picks, guys. Now, another question...if I've got a Gibson BB Pro that isn't doing much right now, why not use that?

(I figure is it what...anything between 8 to 8.5K ohms resistance or so will be OK? I don't wanna get too crazy with setting pickup heights...)

Some good choices are:

'59
PG
A2P

I have the A2P in the neck of my LP and I really like it. Its kinda smoothm but its very good for 'Slash' type, liquid lead solos.
