Recommend me a speaker for my Vibrolux

I have a ´76 SFVR, which has sounded kindof dull and lifeless for sometime now - I tried to change tubes, have it biased to run hotter, change caps, nothing worked. Then I noticed a Weber 12F150-T for sale in my local shop and decided to try how it would affect the amp if I tried it instead of the old alnico CTS. And what a difference! Suddenly the amp has dynamics. And low end. And the snappy Fender attack - AND it takes pedals very well!!

So, now I´m thinking of changing the other CTS aswell. Now, as Webers are almost impossible to find over here, what would You guys suggest to match the 12F150? Over here it´s easiest to get Eminences or Celestions.

I would greatly apprecciate any opinions!

Bright or fat.. Hard to say - I like a balanced tone.

I like highs - as long as they´re not shrill or overbearing. Also too much highs means pedals / overdrives usually don´t work that well.

Fatness is also good, as long as it doesn´t mean muddy or boomy.

I think the 10F150 is a pretty good speaker for the VR, as it has the highs and the lows and everything in between but it seems to be quite a neutral speaker. It lets the guitar and amp shine through. I think there´s a slight peak in the lower mids but other than that it sounds pretty natural.

And yes, the CTS :s are originals.

Ted shipps all over the world and IMO ther eis nothing on the market that can touch Ted's vintage style 10's with the exception of an old Jensen...those are even harder to get and cost a lot m ore money.

I really would like to go with Ted´s suggestion and get a 10F150 to match the "t", but with shipping to Europe + taxes the speaker would cost close to $200 - which is too much for me.

So, I´m still looking for an alternative to match the 10F150-T. Suggestions?

There is nothing out there that's really that close IMO except another Weber or a vintage Jensen...I'd say the closest out there (and it's still pretty far off IMO) is a "reissue" Jensen C10N or maybe a Eminence of some kind but iMnot sure which one...

Get 2 10F125 30 watters and be done with it! That's what I roll w/ in my 75 SFVR.

jensen only makes a c10q, no n. the q's are the best of the new jensen line but they arent good. once you have one of ted's you wont like the jensen. the emi's are nice, the ragin cajun or the ramrod might fit the bill nicely, or even a red fang 10 if you want some alnico flavor. i have a lil buddy and its very nice but it needs to be mixed with something bright to sound its best.

Damn...I didn't know that there was no new C10N...that's odd. But you;re right, once you go Weber there is no going back!
