Recommend Me EL34 Tubes

Well I did a search for the topic but oddly only found one topic regarding and it wasn't very helpful.
So... I'm looking for a matched pair for under 30$, i've heared great things about JJ so I was thinking either the EL34L or maybe the KT77. Any other suggestions of companies and models?

Either the winged C (~C~) EL34 or the JJs... although I haven't tried latter myself.

The Winged C (Svetlana) are indeed very, very good ! But some might find them to pack a bit too much mids. The New Sensor Mullard reissues aren't exactly what I'd call an exact sonic clone of the original Mullard, but a very good tube in its own right. It has a more balanced tone than the Svet.

Mules could be very good for amps that already have a lot of mids. What amp exactly are we talking here ?

Well my amp does have too much mids. It now has the Sovtek EL34WXT Reflector tubes. I want tubes with more buttom end, less mids and a more complex sound.

Ok right now the only two options I have are JJ or EH. So which one do you preffer? What about the EH 6CA7?

My knee-jerk recommendation for EL34s is always JJ's.

Might be a hair more than your budget but, Sovtek WXT's are my favorite. IMO, they beat the hell out of JJ's but, those are my ears.

EH 6CA7s are great sounding EL34 style tubes, try Lord Valve, I paid $50 for a quad, so a duet should only be $25 - $30. I think JJ and EH EL34s are the same price, Mullards are more. He also has the Shugang (sp?) Chinese EL34s which are the TAD and Ruby tubes (yes, they come from the same factory) as well as Winged C and Svetlana.

I guess you didn't read the whole thread. I currently have the WXT and I don't like them.

EL34b ( Like RID says) Shuguang, Tad, Sino and other names are fantastic. Beautiful fat tone, very affordable.

I'm getting some RI Mullards either today or tomorrow (depending on Fedex) and I can give you a review in a few more days.

I freakin love the JJ/tesla E34L's. I assume that if you're lookin for a matched pair you'll be running it in a 50 watt amp, and thats where those tubes really shine. They give ya a bit more headroom, and a touch more "oomph" to your sound.

Actually i'm gonna use it in a 100 watt amp with only two tubes. BTW would this be a problem when biasing if I only put two tubes in?

For an even more robust version you might want to check out the KT77s form JJ.

Yes I mentioned those on the first post...
Now I guess it's between the JJ EL34L, JJ KT77, and EH 6CA7. I'm leaning towards the EL34L.

Order some JJ E34L's from my friend Todd www.revolutionguitar.com and tell him GJ said to throw in a jewel light for free. He's a great tube distributor to deal with.

Thanks a lot Gearjoenser but i'm from Israel so i'll be buying them over here to save the shipping charges. That's also why I only have the choice of either JJ or EH.
