Recommendation of Single Coil Stack please

Hi,
I am looking for a single-coil stack pickup of the following characteristics which has a mixture of Seymour Duncan's STK-S7 and STK-S4.

The STK-S7 has the output which is exactly what I need, but it lacks the treble that STK-S4 exudes. I like the characteristics of the STK-S4, but it lacks the output of the STK-S7.

Till now I still can't find anything that has the mixture of both. Does any know of any single-coil stack pickup which has the above-mentioned characteristics which I am looking for please? Can be other brands as well.

Thanks.

Those pickups are sort of opposites, tonally. I think when you are adding more wire around an S4, obviously the treble response is softened. It happens fast, too, which is why without a preamp boosting the signal, it is really impossible to get the power of the higher-output stacks without altering the EQ. You might want to contact the Custom Shop to see if they could wind something for you, which will have the features you need.

You will probably be able to get the cut you need from the S7 if you use a 1 meg volume pot and a 250k no load tone pot. Have you tried that?

Hi Mincer, it does make sense that the treble response is soften when wires are added. At this stage I wouldn't prefer to spend more money on the customization but explore on whether there are off the shelf products that suits this requirement. Thanks for the advice.

Not Yet. I started with the intention of trying to match the S7 to my bridge humbucker with 500k vol 250k tone, a combi which I like for the bridge pickup.

Guitar only has 1 Vol 1 Tone. With the same 500k vol, I unhook the tone pot from the S7 as a "workaround" to increase the treble response (while the bridge humbucker is still connected to the 250k tone pot). It's not the way I like in the S4, but its some sort of a compromise. Thanks for the advise anyway.

Re: Recommendation of Single Coil Stack please

put a BMP-1 on the STK-S4 - - all the output you could want at tje roll of a knob. I love the darn things they are almost like having a SFX-01 at your fimger tips if you are willing to muck about with the wiring a wee bit.

Can't go wrong with a Bill Lawrence L-250... they have power, with articulate voicing, no hum at all, and clear trebles. Only $55, too.....

Re: Recommendation of Single Coil Stack please

If you like the tone of the s4, but want it louder, just get a boost pedal or even a fender mid boost kit.
