Recommendations for a nasty sounding humbucker

I have a Squier ST-331 Stratocaster. It has a single humbucker and, oddly, a 24.75" Gibson scale as opposed to the traditional 25.5" Fender scale. I'm going to get a new pickup for it. I'm not really a metal guitarist but I play with a heavy distortion that is metal-esque. What is a good evil sounding pickup that sounds good with ridiculous amounts of distortion/fuzz? I want the guitar to look as close to stock as possible so it must be a traditional looking humbucker. Black with chrome polepieces and no writing on the pickup. I want one with at least 4 wires so I can get several different sounds from it. What do you recommend?

I recommend a PAF that really sounds like an old PAF, meaning lots of mids and treble, basically a really fat Telecaster. Get a good one, wire it to a tone knob, and it'll do whatever you want.

I neglected to mention that this guitar has the Gibson-style string spacing. I don't know if that would affect anything or not.

Nazgul and JB have aggressive mids that could definitely do 'nasty' with the right setup. Black Winter is another option, a little more balanced, but lots of output and bitey treble.

You could order any of these pickups as a Shop Floor Custom, with glossy black bobbins and no logo, through a Duncan dealer.

Just get the sh models then, which are the standard anyways.
tb is for fender/trem spacing, or OFR bridges.

I think I've decided on the Gibson 498T for now. Does it come in F and G spacing? How can I be 100% sure that my Squier has G spacing? Do I measure from the top of the top string to the bottom string?

Re: Recommendations for a nasty sounding humbucker

Either spring spacing will work. On a high output pickup the poles don't need to be right under the strings. But I would guess a Squire Strat at would have Fender spacing. Even most Gibsons have "Fender" spacing since the 1970s.

498t (I like 'em stock) is a great choice. Duncan Custom is another strong contender -- to paraphrase a quote from this board from a long time back, it does everything while wearing combat boots.
