Recommendations for a New Pedal

Hi

There is a opporunity in my fiscal planning that may permit me to buy a new pedal.

I;ve been itching for some new (but useful sounds) for a while. I'm a little torn with that to choose.

I have all the OD/dist/fuzz that I need, as well as a compressor, wah, chorus, phaser clone (mxr) and nova delay.

My band doesnt have a keys player, so some synth/filter/mod sounds would be useful. Preferably something with presets, although not afraid to buy "single" effects if they sound good enough.

I've been looking at the following...

Line6 MM4 - nothing excites me here - also concerned about reliability
Line6 FM4 - very ZANY sounds - possibliy too zany for anything useful?
Line6 Rotomachine - seems to provide a very convincing leslie effect, but I like the sound of my phasor dimed for this.
EH POG2 - does a nice organ/violin swell/12(or18!) string!
Boss DD7 - like the sound of the warp and hold functions seen on youtube - delays can be replicated with the nova though.
Akai headrush/RC2 - loopers sound cool but would I REALLY use one live?

What do you guys use to add more textures the basic od/fuzz/chorus/delay setup???

buying whatever pedal just because you've got some extra money? that's what I call a real GAS
But anyway, if you 'really' need to use that money in order to add more textures to your setup, I would look at BOSS RC-2 and BBE Sonic Stomp.

I bought a Digitech RP500 about a month ago and really like it. Really versatile.

He he :naughty:

Its not that I MUST spend the money, but I dont often have the money to spend on myself. I'm not a gearhead and dont buy pedals for the sake of pedals.

It just so transpires that I am able to treat myself at the mo, and if there is a pedal that will shock me with new juicy soundscapes then I might bite. If nothing takes my fancy then I'll pass.

Just wanted some pointers from people to see whats cool and whether its for me.

crguti - thanks for your pointers. Do you own an RC-2?

TC Electronic Nova Modulator will get you some interesting sounds, and lets you store presets too.

No, I don't own the RC-2, but for some time I've been gasing that pedal. I'm not sure if it will work for me. I would need to put it in the FX loop so I can use my 2 preamps. But I'm afraid it will degrade the signal, specially when I'm already using a digital effect in the loop (G-major).
I hope someone close to me can lend me the pedal so I could check it out.

What about the Pigtronix Mothership? Check it out. It should give you sounds that are different from anything you have at the moment!!

Re: Recommendations for a New Pedal

If you want something super versatile that you can play with and get all different sounds and tones... POG is what you need.

I vote that you either need a POG or a Line6 Echo Park.

Re: Recommendations for a New Pedal

I vote for the POG too...they seem pretty cool. I'd love to have one but its just too much $$ for me. :)

Re: Recommendations for a New Pedal

Look at some Subdecay effects maybe their envelope filters. There are more crazy brands out there though.
