Recommendations for Showmaster

I posted this a week ago and only got a few replies. I am looking for a set of pickups to place in my fender showmaster, I want something that can play metal (sub genres like metalcore and post hardcore) and hard rock but is splittable and cleans up nicely to play music like Tom Petty and can play chords too. I was thinking the standard, Jazz and JB. But I have thought of others as well, like the Alt 8 and Custom Custom. I just want some help. I don't want the Pearly Gates or the 59 as that is what's currently in it, they are amazing pickups but they have some corrosion on them and are not what I'm looking for in this guitar. I'm just looking for something a little bit more me and suits that guitar as well as myself better!

You might look at a Jazz & Custom set, which aren't so specialized that they are only for one kind of music. They both sound good split, too, so they can do clean and semi-clean well. The distortion remains tight under lower tunings, too.

See, I like the Jazz a lot and I think I'd like the custom. But I am really stuck on maybe trying the Alt8 because I've watched videos with it and like the sound. I haven't really heard of anyone trying it though.

dimarzio super 3 bridge and an EJ bridge model in the neck, 500k volume with a .001 cap treble bleed and a TBX tone control add 2 3 way mini toggles series/parallel/split...........tone heaven. I have a mahogany strat and alder strat with that combo and they are both amazing. The super3 is a very under rated misunderstood pickup, its tight, fat but very clear especially when paired with a tbx and treble bleed, the EJ bridge works great in the neck with hotter bridge pickups super clear and bright.

The Alternative 8 is certainly more balanced- it has more of everything. It isn't as scooped as the Custom. It has mids. It has volume. It is loud. The question between the Alt8 and the Custom is "how much mids do you like?"

I like my mids to be balanced with the treble.
