Recorded a new Track today.

[80's_Metal]

Used a regular Cubase 7LE generated drum track (Which I learned how to speed up today!)
Used the Zoom H4N to record both guitar tracks.

Guitar is my Dean Blue Water V with SH-6 DDJ bridge 59 Neck - tuned drop D

Amp is Roland XL40 clean and dry (no effects at all)

Right channel is Metal Muff

Left Channel is Digitech Metal Master

Used the Decimator to clean up a lot (The metal Muff still leaked a lot of hissiness about the place)



This is not a produced perfect track, merely a rough draft if you will. Just learning the ropes and having fun.

Nothing to criticize; experimentation is great and being able to track and store your ideas is one of the more useful inventions of the past century. I like the riffs, too.

A question: is this double tracked? If so, you might want to try panning them further apart so they don't just blob up the center. Even hard left and hard right is okay.

I think I panned them 51% each side. Seemed like a lot in my headphones.... I may go further and listen again. Thanks for the suggestion.

Half way is dangerous territory if you are using canned drums because tom fills are usually in that space. I usually pan the guitars so they are WIDER than the drums; just like you would set up guitars on a stage, with the guitars besides the drum kits, on the outermost edges of the stage.

There is no right or wrong when it comes to mixing ... but I do like the wider spread on the guitars!

From gear of humble origins it may be, but the result is good. It would be good to hear a final version of this with bass and vox.
