Recording amps?

Re: Recording amps?

My Picovalve is 5 watts through a 1X12 cab and can be close miked very effectively. I have a Behringer stereo ss amp that has line out and I'm dying to try it direct in to my Zoom H4. I have a thought that it will sound massive recorded.

Re: Recording amps?

Haven't tried it yet, but the reviews of the Mesa Cab Clone are glowing. Might be a great solution for both live and recording situations. Many of the new Mesa amps are switchable down to 5-10 watts: Mini Recto, 5:25+, TA-15/-30, Lonestars...even the Mark V, et.al.

But the all-time kings of recording have to be the small BF and tweed Fenders (Champ, Princeton, Deluxe). Nothing better.

Re: Recording amps?

Well, another question is - how much treatment are you willing to give the room you are recording in?

Any kind of simulator/emulator is robust against it. I really don't think that completely random rooms do on average offer better recording with microphones than some tinkering and choosing with simulators gives you.
