Recording issue

Okay, so I picked up a Mackie Onyx Satellite, and I've run into a problem. I can't figure out how to get it to record to both sides. Input 1 only plays through the left side, Input 2 only to the right. But I don't want to be recording with two mics, I just want one. How do I get it to play to both sides? I figured I could just pan it after I record it, but nothing will go to the right side.

Shot in the dark: a Y cable? plug the mic into it and run the two male ends to 1 and 2?

Re: Recording issue

I don't know that unit but there must be a way to record a mono signal in your DAW software that will pan. Check the software(s) and make sure everything is routed right.

If you are trying to record a stereo signal with a single input I'm pretty sure you can't on that unit.

Re: Recording issue

I'd have to see it to know for sure, but make sure your ASIO settings are all setup and the inputs and outputs are Kosher. You are using Tracktion, right? If no, tell us what software you're using and maybe a screen shot of what's going on.

Re: Recording issue

I was trying it through that and GarageBand. While recording, it shows the signal on both sides, but as soon as I finish recording, the bottom half of the wavelength (audio on the right side) disappears.

Re: Recording issue

I would download REAPER and see if it fixes the problem. Garageband is trash.
