Mackie Tracktion 2, $150 with plenty of plug-ins. Don't let the price fool you, lots of bang for the buck and a very easy to use interface. I also have the last version of Emagic Logic Platinum that ran on PCs (before Apple bought them), I prefer Tracktion which cost way less.

+1. I've got Tracktion 3 on the way. Very intuitive interface, handles any VST you want and just makes sense. Try the demo and see if you like t.

another vote for tracktion. very very intuitive. i came from a pro tools le world as well. i love tracktion.
