Recording Setup Advice

I would like to start recording, preferably direct to the computer as noise would severely limit the time I would be able to use the setup. My amp (see sig) supposedly has a good speaker simulation built in to the circuit for the direct out/headphone jack, and I was hoping to use that. What I'm wondering is what I'll need to record direct to the computer, probably USB as I doubt the quality of my soundcard.

I'd also like to get a drum machine, for use both in recording and jamming. The ideal device would be a drum machine, and USB recording interface together, but I can manage both seperately. IDK if this feature even exists, but are there any drum machines that I can also plug the headphone jack out from the amp in to the drum machine and essentially mix the two signals for playing through the headphones without going to the computer? Or do I need a mixer?

Please suggest a setup, nothing too expensive, keeping in mind my ideal setup would allow me to:
-Record direct to the computer, no mics.
-Use a drum machine both for the recording and jamming through headphones away from the computer

P.S. if you are really helpful, I'll write a song in your honor and post it here for yours and everyone else's enjoyment... :fingersx:

Re: Recording Setup Advice

Bump for opinions? Even something easy to use so I can connect the headphone/recording out from my amp direct to the computer by USB would be appreciated. Just looking for a starting point here guys, the drum machine is not necessary.

Re: Recording Setup Advice

I'm hoping to avoid using mic's, and I'm not looking to spend anywhere near that amount of money as in the other thread. Just something simple so I can use the headphone/recording out of my amp and noodle away at some song ideas late at night without waking anyone up. It doesn't have to sound great, but of course I would hope to get it to sound similar to how my amp does playing through headphones. I would just like to be able to get a quick and somewhat accurate representation of some song ideas.

Re: Recording Setup Advice

If you have an anolog line in and you don t want too much quality, that should do.You have a line out on the amp.Can t hurt to try.
For Software:Try the freebie version of Goldwave or Cooledit.Ntrack is another low level recording/editor.

PS , i m not very clued up about USB interfaces for sound
