Re: Rectoverb VS. F50

this thread has now made me want one. damn you guys. hopefully my little brother will buy my ashdown peacemaker so he can stop using my roland keyboard amp and i can get one of these as well.

I have a lot of pedals, what is the exact deal with the effects loop that i keep hearing about? Can't u set it for 100 percent mix with your modulation and delay pedals? All my dirt and compressors go before the amp but my phaser, delay, and chorus go in the loop.

I do the same thing. All the timing related pedal go to FX loop, which means after preamp. All the tone related pedal go before the preamp.

Yes but people on here and harmony C have mentioned phasing issues with the effects loop. Has that been solved or I'm guessing that was more of a user error

:smack: Beat me to deletion! Anyway, congradulations on confirming your next arrival! That's one hell of an amp. Enjoy. :bigok:
Thanks Dude. Recently a local drummer contacted me to form a band. He is my age and seems like a decent guy. I am more of medium gain type of guy (ACDC, ZZ top ...) but he is still into 80's metal. So I figured I might need a highgain amp. My friend at GC allowed me to exchange my Soldano Lucky 13 with a brand new Rectorverb. I was thinking F-50 with a matching extension cab but I was concerned that F50 might not have enough gain for the kind of music the durmmer wants to play. However, I think I can inspire him and eventually we gonna play what i want!

Cheers

I'm not exactly a sucker for low-middle gain and that's what I found the F-50 to do best. When I play through a Rectoverb, it's a completely different experience. Much fatter distortion and much more useable in my taste.

The one thing that really pisses me off is when people label them before they give them a fair shot. You'd be surprised at how versatile it really is. Just because it can hit the high gain mark on the spot, doesn't mean it can't do the others. I'm constantly pleasured at how you can roll off the gain and presence and get extremely sweet tones for a more classical drift.

My choice: Rectoverb.

That's my feeling exactly. I owned a triple recto and the rectoverb really is a different animal. The clean channel sounds great for a high gain amp. When I a/b it to my peavey classic 50 it is not quite as good, but it is definitely an honorable competitor. When I first got the rectoverb I wasn't that impressed with the clean channel, but after playing with the knobs and rolling the volume back on my guitar a little bit it really does sound quite beautiful. I think rectos get a bad rap because of the whole bassed out Korn sound, but they really can do so much more. If you don't over do the bass and don't scoop out all the mids it really is a great sounding balanced amp, and it gets great chunk. The recto also can get some great 80's type metal sounds on the vintage setting of the second channel. With all rectos you really have to play with the knobs. A little tweak here and ther can really make a big difference in a recto.

I think you will really dig the recto. Just give it plenty of tweaking and you should be able to get all kinds of great sounds out of it. I know I do.

Oh God, when we were doing some of our own classic rock/classic metal covers - I just flipped that switch to Vintage setting, rolled the gain back to about 1:00 and w/ the proper EQ, I nailed that Iommi tone! It was so satisfying!

I hope you find the same inspiration that I found in that amp!

Yep, I was just thinking that he should be able to get plenty of tones to cover BOTH of their desires :).
