Red clip, blue clip, old clip, NEW CLIP!

Well, sorta new, anyway! I went back & redid the guitars on an older tune of mine, & changed a few things around while I was at it. Hope ya dig it! :D

Vitamin D V2

Guitar: Ibanez RG410, Duncan Dimebucker

Amp & cab model: my usual 6505 II, boosted, 4x12 V30

I haven't done anything with the Ibby in a long time, so it was fun to visit with an old friend again. That, & it's the only guitar in the house with strings light enough (10-56) to tune up to drop D.

This one's bada$$. I haven't heard it before.
I think that guitar sounds bigger than your schecter.
More raw, and 'in-your-face'.

Bass guitar might be a bit too loud, but it's hard to tell on my crappy laptop speakers.

Fantastic!! I love the squealy intro!! Just plain nastiness!

Re: Red clip, blue clip, old clip, NEW CLIP!

Thanks guys! Glad you liked it! Nick, the bass is definitely loud in this one; I'm always turning it down too low, & I'm making a conscious effort now to keep it more up front. I love loud bass guitar in a mix, ala In Flames or King's X, & I decided to err on the loud side rather than quiet on this one. :)

Using the Dimebucker after a long time away from it was interesting; this thing is definitely geared for the upper half of the tone spectrum. Normally when I eq a guitar track I cut the bass & bump the mids up, but on this one I cut the treble & bumped the mids, leaving the lower end alone. I also noticed I can really hear the pick going scritch-scritch-scritch against the strings. I haven't strung this one up yet for the AEAEAE tuning I've been using lately, but now I'm wanting to, just to hear how this pickup works with some low A riffing. :headbang:

Re: Red clip, blue clip, old clip, NEW CLIP!

I love it! it has the sound of my pantera vulgar display of power album

Re: Red clip, blue clip, old clip, NEW CLIP!

Woah, I really like the groove in that. The intro really sets it all up, too. That was pretty cool.

FWIW, you made my feet dance under my desk... that's a good thing. ;)

Re: Red clip, blue clip, old clip, NEW CLIP!

Yeah, baby! I really enjoyed that. That's about the right amount of bass guitar, too. really solid and in your face.

Re: Red clip, blue clip, old clip, NEW CLIP!

Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the bass sound; I tried to leave holes in the guitar tracks here & there for the bass to stand out, which is difficullt for me as my inclination is to fill EVERY available spot with guitar.

I'm glad people are digging the groove; there are a couple of older ones I may go through & take another stab at. Some of my real early stuff has riffs I'm in love with, but the performance &/or tone sucks.

granted this is from about 7 months ago...but im just now hearing it for the first time! holy ****!! thats ****in awesome man!! do you think you could maybe send me an IM or something and maybe possibly compare the DD to the Dime?? if you have any experience with it i guess...you seriously just made me question my DD...and i LOVE my DD. again, awesome stuff!!

Re: Red clip, blue clip, old clip, NEW CLIP!

Hey, thanks for checking it out! :)

Vitamin D v2 is the only clip I ever did with the Dimebucker. To be honest, I never liked that pickup. I much prefer the SH-6 Distortion in my Dean, or the EMG 81/85 set in my Schecter. As a matter of fact, I replaced the Dimebucker in the Ibanez with an EMG 85 a few months ago, & I like it a lot more.
