Red Label Fender Molded Strat Case

Hi folks, I just bought one of these for $70 canadian.

Is there something special about the red label cases that stands out from the non-red ones? Seems like they get more attention.

Anyone know why?

Thanks, Doug.

Re: Red Label Fender Molded Strat Case

It used to be fabled that they were made of kevlar

I have no idea if that's true or not, just what I heard from a little bird

I have one, and it's definitely nothing special. It's bottom feet are mounted to the plastic outer shell, and the plastic has broken over the years, so it doesn't really sit up anymore, even on a lever hard floor.

Came with my MIA Strat I got brand new from the sto' in '96

O.K., thanks for the info. The only thing I can gather is that they came with the '90 American Strats, maybe with a Special Edition one???

Maybe it has more to do witht he guitar that came with it....

Again, thanks, for the info...Doug.

FWIW, my Strat was just a run of the mill Stratocaster, no special edition or anything.

Hope yours is in good shape! They're nice cases, mine has gigged with me for 10 or 12 years and it has seen a lot. I still use it to take the old Strat to the gig every week!

Yeah, actually mine's got a pair of scratches on the top that run maybe two/three inches each, but that's it. Otherwise, it looks brand new. A friend of mine knew the owner. His friend sold his '92 strat, but the guy he sold it to didn't want the case (???), so I produced $75 and took it home.

I have a nice Special Edition (made in Korea) Ash Telecaster ($400 candian barely played), and had a gig bag as a case, so this is a definite step up...

Thanks again for the info...Doug.

Re: Red Label Fender Molded Strat Case

I have the same case. I picked mine up for about $75 too. Fits my '99 MIM Tele nicely. Tried selling the Tele with the case and got nothing but lowballers..LOL... for $225 I will keep it, for $300 the guitar and case woulda been gone. Guy I got mine from said it came with early to mid 90's Strats, though he made it seem like not all in that period had them...

Re: Red Label Fender Molded Strat Case

Just a case, nothing special about them at all. Good cases. My '94 American Standard Strat came with one, as did all the 90's American Standard Strats and Teles.

Nah, not true.....if it were made from kevlar ( woven synthetic fibre 5 times the strength of steel ) it would be worth a fortune.

........it's actually made from plutonium !

Re: Red Label Fender Molded Strat Case

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread from the dead but I have found one of these cases with an unplayed Squier Stratocaster and an amp. I can’t really tell anything about the guitar because the pictures are kind of fuzzy. The case appears to be in pristine condition and the Fender amp is very dusty on the top.
The girl that has it for sale knows nothing about guitars but she did tell me it was made in Indonesia. The “Squier” on the head stock does not have the gold around the letters like my other Indonesian made Strat and I think I can make out “Bullet” under the name.
Anyway I offered her $200 for the lot and she said “OK sold” I pick it up in two weeks.

My question is- will my USA made Strat with the big head stock fit in this case? The real reason I’m buying this is for the case. I’m selling the guitar and amp.

Re: Red Label Fender Molded Strat Case

It should fit just fine. They came with the 90's American Strats so the larger headstock shouldn't pose an issue. Good luck.

For cheap guitars with cases, split em up and sell the case separately. You'll get 60-100 bucks depending on how clean, how good, and what the branding is

Meanwhile, case/no case has next to no impact on sub-$400 guitar selling prices
