Red RAT... If You Didn't Know Already

OOPPSS missed this post. I just mentioned the red one in your yellow Rat thread. lol They only look right in black IMHO.

I've swapped supposedly crappy op-amp chips in RATs for the fabled LM-308 and can't really hear any difference myself - at least nothing that a tiny tweak of the filter knob wouldn't correct.
 
Old news is old. Red, Yellow, and White are out there. Already making the used rounds...

But otherwise just a Rat 2

Hey man i gave a great tip here to a Class A pedal builder where he can build you whatever you want with expertise and one of a kind NOS components. Whether people are smart enough to figure all that out is above my paygrade.
You have to be smarter than the pedals.
I honestly don't know why i even try sometimes but i guess its unrealistic to think you can connect on some level with everybody on a guitar forum.
 
The internet is full of BS & BSers, but there are still a few gems of truth out there.

 
At 1:25:20 Josh discusses the opamp and then shows how similar the original LM308 chip in the RAT circuit to the OP07 chip currently being used:

I go by what a pedal sounds like not charts & graph printouts.
Call me old fashioned i guess.
Do people still listen to pedals or is it what color the paint is now ?

No they are not, but I'll bet $1000 that you can't tell an LM308 vs a OP07DP in a series of blind randomized trials in a statistically reliable way.

I'll bet you $onebeeliondollars that I won't take that bet because I don't believe in magical LM308 BS.

I'll also bet that your bet was actually offered to someone else here and you accidentally quoted moi.

All the different colors are the exact same circuit. Cool options though.

As for the op-amp, GuitarStv covered it. Josh has explained this and he knows what he's talking about.
