Red Special

Does anyone besides me own a replica (or built a replica) of this guitar? I bought one from MusiciansFriend a couple months ago and instantly fell in love with it. I played an Epiphone Les Paul before this, and I have to say that the thin body and thick neck really seemed more comfortable to me. The sound is near-exact to the original, but of course a few differences. The tremolo system is the most obvious. The original has a hand-made knife-edge in whilst the BMG Replica has a wilkinson floating tremolo.

Discussion of the guitar goes here.

Re: Red Special

didn't the original also have motorcycle engine valve springs for the tremolo's springs? btw what kind of replica do you have?

Yeah, and the arm was a knitting needle

I have the 2009 Revision of the Brian May Guitars RS. In Antique Cherry finish. Here's a picture if you're wondering

Re: Red Special

I've always wanteed a Red Special just because they are so different than any other guitar ever built...truly original. However after playing a few different ones from the Burns to a killer Guild they are just not something thats ever gonna become my go to piece so I've just put it off for years...

I've always wanted to lay my hands on a '93 Guild (Or any replica with an original knife-edge trem)
