Refinish #15 - Back to basics

Re: Refinish #15 - Back to basics

Sorry, it's my favorite color, surprised it took me this long to do one. It'll probably get some white vinyl stickers though!

None more black.

I like it. Looks like a Warmoth, though the bridge doesn't look recessed?

Re: Refinish #15 - Back to basics

It's another Dean Vendetta, with the neck humbucker cavity, switch hole, and tone pot hole filled.

Very cool. I've taken a few cheaper bodies and have done makeovers.

That guitar now looks about a thousand times better. :friday:

Wood shims from Lowes (they're the exact width, then cut to fit the length, then stacked), then DAP wood filler over top and in the edges.

Re: Refinish #15 - Back to basics

Did you do that with a spray can or spray gun? Looks great!

And boy, does it cover! That's two coats, all that's needed. Only used about 1/10 of the can!

Looks amazing! This is great! did you sand the body first? (aside from the fills?)
I have had a great old Kramer body for years that is too scuffed for my liking, but too nice to have to strip and start over, that Ive wanted to build for years, but was afraid to try painting. Im so picky

Yup, I just hit it with a fine grade sanding pad to take off the shine, then hit it with rustoleum spray primer, then the paint. Then Minwax Polyurethane Gloss clear.

Got it done, went with the Dimarzio D-Activator in this one. Figured that it sounded good in Agathis, why not in Paulownia? :D And, like all black guitars, fingerprints show up QUITE well! :banghead:
