Refinishing an old amp

So I took off the old, non-original tweed covering off my 1960 gibson explorer amp. I've sanded it down but need to use something to get off the last of the adhesive residue. Can somebody out there recommend what they used to strip/remove old adhesive. I've included a pic of the the top and bottom of the cabinet to show what's left. I've sanded it all with 60 and 100 grit paper.
Thanks,
Matt

PS- Strangely, the top is plywood but the rest of the cabinet is wood.

Re: Refinishing an old amp

Are you going to re-tolex the cab, or are you going for some kind of natural wood finish ?

If it's the former, it's probably already good to go (assuming you've removed any little lumps and bumps).

If it's the latter, experiment on the bottom surface with products like Naptha, paint thinners, gunk remover etc.
