Refinishing my Strat, what are your thoughts on colour?

Well, I've decided to treat her to a makeover. I've stripped all the stickers off, and I'm about to sand it back to the bare wood. I'm going to fill any holes and get it ready for painting.

I know I want the following:

  • Solid colour
  • Not red, purple, yellow or orange
  • Maybe some kind of 50s finish, Sea Foam, Surf, Daphne etc.

What do you guys reckon?

I think you should leave it alone, if that's not an option, you should do fiesta red or shell pink.

put the stickers back on. ugly or not ugly, it was interesting before.

Shell pink or surf green would be my choices

The elusive color somewhere between Surf Green and Daphne Blue. Kind of like a desaturated Surf Green. Never production, but awesome none the less. :)

I'd personally go with the Daphne Blue, but Fiesta Red would be pretty cool too.

That's a pretty sweet guitar actually dude. But if you REALLY NEED to paint it, go with daphne blue.

One more vote for Daphne blue. That, or shell pink.

Lake Placid Blue Metallic. If that's too loud, then Blue Ice Metallic. Another cool color that is very rare is the TeaL Green Metallic from 65.

I like Blue Ice Metallic or Lake Placid Blue Metallic.

+1 for white blonde but only if the guitar has a nice grain in the wood. That shell pink one looks really cool though, as would sonic blue.

You definitely had the perfect punk guitar before; with a maple neck I think daphne blue would look really stunning. Sonic blue could also look really cool.
