Relic thought

Frito's Better Half
you know how guys always joke about pulling a guitar behind a truck to relic it. Well, I live real close to a 7 mile long road that's nothing but rocks. No asphalt. I'm thinking about maybe buying me one of them cheapie 100 dollar guitars (sx, j.reynolds, johnson, agile, arbor, crap like that) and towing it down this road. Of course all of these bodies are made out of basswood, so I'm gonna be expecting some HUGE chunks missing. Whatcha think?

*if anyone wants to donate a guitar for this purpose, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll pay shipping. You can even have it back when I'm done.

Re: Relic thought

of course, for everyones entertainment there would be pics inlcluded. I just dont know if I wanna bust out 100 bucks on something that's literally gonna get dragged behind my truck.

Re: Relic thought

Sounds cool, part of me doubts that there will be ANYTHING left of a basswood guitar though.

Re: Relic thought

That's what I'm thinking as well, Forbes. Maybe just drive a mile, instead of the entire 7. Not to mention that the road in question is quite curvey. Too long of a rope and the things flying dead into a tree, no doubt.

Re: Relic thought

actually, there is alot if you know where to look. If you're just a tourist, not really. I was just thinking it'd be kinda cool. Maybe plug it into an amp in the back of my truck and record all the crazy ass sounds it makes.

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Oh lord, I'd pay for a recording of that.

Re: Relic thought

Well Bean, the good news is that thinking about doing stupid stuff like this can last well into your twenties. I was 25 when I bbq'ed my strat.

Re: Relic thought

Do it. :)

I'd just take all the parts off of the body and neck (so as not to break anything)

Where's the fun in that?!? You're missing the point of the whole thing. :laugh2:

Re: Relic thought

OK, crazy thought, but how about shooting it with bird shot from long range?

The whole point would be to barely penetrate the surface.

How do you guys think that would work?

Re: Relic thought

I think that it would turn out looking like you shot it with bird shot at long range. That, or you shot it with bb's at close range.

Obviously. :smack:

But would it look cool? :13:

Re: Relic thought

Just strap an M1000 to it, and blow that sucker sky-high while taping it with a high-speed camera!

Re: Relic thought

seriously, if anyone wants to donate the guitar for this purpose, it'd be greatly appreciated. Hell, even just a cheap body. I've got a crappy neck I can throw on it.

Re: Relic thought

i've got an Ibanez GRX with half the finish left on it, and it could be a serious canidate :D
