Remagnitize pickups without removing them from guitar

I have a set of AlNiCo5 lipstick pickups I bought on ebay but they seem to be totally demagnetized (with a screw I can't feel magnetic pull at all whereas with the same screw I can feel it with other pickups).
Since I can't remove the pickups from the guitar (don't have the solder to put them back on the guitar), is it possible to remagnetize the pickups leaving them on the guitar by just placing one neodimium magnet close to each pickup?

Lipsticks are basically a bar magnet with wire wrapped around. So, a strong mag would work.
If the pickup works and has a resonable output, i doubt there is something wrong.

I think they need to be remagnetized as the output is very weak and the low end is almost absent.

My doubt is only about HOW to remagnetize them. My doubt comes from here (min 3:46):

because he removed the pickup from the guitar so that he can pass it between TWO magnets (north and south pole).

So the question is: can I remagnetize by leaving the pickup in the guitar and using just ONE magnet?

if you dont want to take it out, you could just put a neo bar magnet on top for a few seconds. probably enough to get the charge up enough to make a difference

Keep in mind, don't expect miracles. Lipstick pickups are generally pretty weak and thin, with not a lot of bass. I think many like the looks of them more than the actual way they sound.

The lipsticks I'm talking about sound thinner and weaker than normal lipsticks on a Danelectro. Plus, I don't think it's normal not to feel at all a magnetic pull with the screw test. I would expect a little a magnetic pull at least but not a complete absence of it.

How should the degauss have happend? Did you store speakers on your guitar?

They have been like that since I purchased them, but considering the cheap price (20$ each) I suppose they were not "manufactured" properly.

If it is a regular bar magnet on the inside, you can realign the magnetic field by taking a powerful magnet and rubbing it in ONE direction down the length of the pickup. I would repeat it several times, and wrap the charging magnet in very thin cloth to keep it from scratching the pickup cover. The magnet you are using to recharge it will have to be a very strong magnet.

In doing such operation, if done wrong, is there a risk to accidentally demagnetize the pickup (like when you leave the guitar close to a speaker)?

Yep, but you can do it over and over again. But if its is degaussed now, how much worse can it get...
