Remember the Beatles?

No, It's not a jangly rick tone it's rock. Abbey Road-The End, those solo tones rip, I really like the funky park (probably george w/ his rosewood tele) I don't know what their playing/through at all. Though if I had to guess I'd say Paul- probably Les Paul
John-Casino
George-tele (like I mentioned)

Amps are a factor here, but I also would like to hear about guitars/pickups too

Re: Remember the Beatles?

You mean Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?

:)

If you google it, I would imagine there are tons of Beatles gear sites on the web.

Re: Remember the Beatles?

IIRC On the Abbey Road album George mostly played a '57 Les Paul Gold Top (It was refinished in Red before Eric Clapton gave it to him though) and John played his Casino mostly. google to be sure though.

Re: Remember the Beatles?

I do remember reading where Paul said that the three of them traded off lick's. If I'm remembering right each round started off with George, then John then Paul. I'm not the one who could tell you correctley what guitars and amps each of them used.

Re: Remember the Beatles?

the film clip of them playing "Get Back" on top of a building shows their gear around that time.
IIRC, all Fender amps by that time. John was playing the Casino, can't remember if George was playing his matching Casino or something else. I think Paul was using a Rick bass.

The clip for "Hey Jude" is probably from a similar time, and also shows some of their gear. Remember that like a lot of bands today, by that time they were using quite a few different guitars.

Re: Remember the Beatles?

I have the rooftop concert on "let it be", john's on his casino, george- rosewood tele, Paul-Hofner? bass (voilin looking bass). I can see that the amps are fenders in that performance, but on abbey road they're using some kind of distortion that's definately not a cranked fender, probably pedals. I know for sure there's a tele in the ending solos. I haven't googled yet. But I'll report back when I do.
