Gear is the usual, here's the list if you're unfamiliar with the cheap crap I use:

Guitar: Schecter C1 Hellraiser, EMG 81 bridge pup

Bass: Ibanez SR500

Rig: Line 6 GuitarPort, GearBox modeling software, RiffWorks recording software, HP pc.

Tuning: CGCGCE (bass: CGCG)

The guitar is four tracks, panned hard left & right. Models are a very dry 6505 & a very wet Uberschall, both through a virtual 4x12 V30 cab. Bass patch is a bastardized setup utilizing the "Big Bottom" guitar head & one of the bass cab models (I don't recall cab, sorry).

Nothing's been post-eq'd, which I have always done with past songs. I'm fairly content with the sound as is.

Bang yer head!

I disagree. It's not finished yet.

Needs some drum fills.
You should think of putting one of your famous cat-strangling solos in it.

lol, I was wondering if I'd get called on the drum track. :D I had everything recorded & intended to grab some different loops, & then just figured to heck with it.

As for solos, I dunno. I hate to trash a tune I like. :p

Good head banging music.

Hey, I recognize you from Harmony Central! You've got the Edwards John Sykes sig I lust after. :)

Thanks!

I've been fooling around with the drums, changing the loops here & there & dropping them down in the mix a little. Will repost once the link is updated.

Hell yeah :headbang: The drive of the song is crazy good...yeah!!!

Re: Remember those test clips a week or two ago? Here's one, completed.

Alright! :) Got some drum variety in there, please give a listen.

...still no solo. :p

Drums are much better now.

What amp model is that?
Nice clear tone...fits very nicely in the mix.

I need a bass...Real bass guitar sounds much better than the programmed crap I use.

It's two different patches, two tracks of each. One is my dry/tight 6505 rhythm patch, the other is my wet/loose Uberschall lead patch. Originally this was just the two 6505 tracks, but I wanted something more wet for the chorus part, & laid down two tracks with the Uber lead patch on it as a test. After that I found that they complemented each other pretty well, & added two of the Uber tracks to the whole thing. At first I used my wet Uber rhythm tone, but it still wasn't reverb-y enough for what I wanted, so I tried the lead patch for the heck of it, & it worked great. You've got a copy of my Uberschall lead patch if I recall, though it might be a bit different now, as I'm constantly tweaking them.

I was shooting for a Strapping Young Lad type of sound. Usually the metal rhythm tones are super dry & tight, but Devin's stuff is dripping wet. I fooled around with running some techno beats underneath the drums also, trying to steal some more SYL tricks.

Yep. I've still got the Uberschall patch. Great metal lead tone. I can't imagine all that delay on a tight metal rhythm track, though. It would sound terribly sloppy on my tunes.

I might try that patch (with less delay and chorus) as an overlay of my tight big-bottom patch.

Thanks

I always wondered if the metal pak was worth it for my toneport...this settels it,it is!
all I use is the spinal puppet and the solo
Love the tune and the tone ! I'll listen to this while Im laying out the credit card for Line6, be sure to ask for your commision

LOL! I wonder if I could wrangle an endorsement, maybe? :D

I'll tell ya what, if you can, buy the pack where you get all of them at once. I bought them all seperately & spread the cost out over time, but it cost more doing it that way.

Thanks for checking it out, glad ya dug it! :)

That. Was. Cooool.

Gnarly tones, and nice riffing there! What do you use to create the drums?

Thanks!

The main drum loops on this one come from Submersible Music; I used their Drumcore LT proggy, a free download that works only with their loops. The drum loop pack I used is the John Tempesta pack. The elctronic beats running underneath the main drums are from a couple of sources, some were free downloads & some I purchased.

Great stuff man! loving it.
Thanks!

I keep revisiting it, trying out different melody leads & stuff, but I'm never happy with them. I think I need a keyboard; I'd have an easier time adding some more variety to my songs with a synth than trying to play a solo that makes sense. :p
