Remember to take the strap buttons off

I've never had that happen in all the guitars I've shipped or received, but packing and insurance is your best friend. If a company is going to let the box fall 20 feet onto concrete, nothing will save it.

I’ve been lucky and agree with the points above but I know what you mean, the bottom one in particular cuts through cardboard or poly.

I double box everything with plenty of "crush factor" built in, but the strap buttons should come off. Bought a nice semi-hollow Warmoth Tele once and the seller had one of those gigantic Schaller straplocks w/ the strap installed, and it pushed into the body a half inch. I got a big partial refund from the seller, and then got to work on the body to repair the damage. The dislodged wood didn't want to come back together cleanly.

I ordered a Tayler T5C and it was that bottom strap button that busted the soundboard into two pieces by the time i got it

When it was in transit, i could see it going back and forth for two days at the Atlanta Airport. It hink this is where it happened

The box was accordioned when it arrived

Here ya go

Everything Ive ever ordered was double boxed with foam filler or pre formed foam -I cant imagine the button strap being reached with any regular shipping forces

Honestly if if dropped with that kind of force to deform enough to reach the guitar, I'd want to know and send the guitar back -more is likely affected.

So I guess Im for keeping the button straps on

Yep and in particular Fed Ex can break a solid steel ball in a sandbox but DHL is even worse.
Fed Ex once dropped a Custom Shop Fender Prosonic I bought off the side of a conveyor at OHare. They reboxed the carnage and sent it on anyway without notice. Birmingham is the absolute worst and so bad we made national news.

I actually worked for UPS for a few days unloading the trucks at a hub. So I saw first hand how they just huck everything around without regard for anything. You have to plan on your box being smashed beneath other boxes and being chucked around when loaded.
