Remove Duct Tape gunk from guitar surface?

First i would try a different tape with a bit more tack to it, just tapping/touching the surface with it to pull the gunk away.

What kind of finish is on the guitar?

Could try putting ice on the glue and using a credit card or old gift card to scrape the residue off.

My first thought would be a little Goo-Gone, but you have to be careful not to leave it on too long, and thoroughly wash it off after application, as it can damage the surface finish....

That's why I asked what finish is on it. Goo-gone / goop-off whatever-it-is really works, but can be unpredictable on a few certain surfaces.

Trumpet oil. I cleaned so much sticker goo from guitars when I worked in a shop. Trumpet oil was the ticket. Let it soak in for a few minutes and it would take it right off.

Trumpet oil? Sounds like a recommendation from a guy blowing his own horn....:earl:

It works. It breaks down the sticky stuff making it easy to wipe off. When it's all gone, polish with good guitar polish. That's how we cleaned up trade-ins with stickers and tape on them.

3M Adhesive Remover would work too.
