Remove Duct Tape gunk from guitar surface?

Lighter fluid worked awesome. Thanks!

Just didn't even think of that...

I usually use nail polish remover or alcohol, but this stuff just was a lot and seemed extra gunky. Stay tuned for new improved Dean Metal Man pics one of these days.

Did it leave the finish alone?

Well, you got it. I was going to recommend: naphtha (lighter fluid, white gas), paint thinner (mineral spirits), gasoline, lemon oil, WD40.

Definitely NOT nail polish remover (it has acetone in it which will quickly dissolve lacquer based finishes, will probably be ok for poly. But naphtha or mineral spirits is best and safe for all finishes.

Good to know this! I've never used it before.

Yes - basic Zippo lighter fluid. Get one at the Walmart checkout. great lighters all around. refillable, repairable. Pretty wind proof too! Plus you have lighter fluid for starting BBQ's, Motley Crue videos, or removing gunk!

Just be careful. Hendrix had a mishap with lighter fluid.....LOL
