Removing 1/4 LB for tele cover

Folks-

I have recently ordered a set of Quarter Pound pickups for my tele. I ordered them from a retailer, not the Duncan custom shop. The neck pup in the set will of course come with the a crome cover. Is there a easy way to remove this myself? I prefure the look of a tele neck pup to be uncovered.

Thanks

you can take the cover off, just be really careful. its also on there for protection of the coil so be careful

I've read somewhere that cover it's needed for the proper use of the pickup. I can't remember where.... Just be carefull if you try to do it.

Without a cover a tele neck pickup would be toast after a month or two... there isn't enough room on the bobbin to wrap it with black cord (like on the original bridge pickups).

I like to add two screw holes to my tele pickguards and then epoxy threaded nuts to the bridge pickup plate so that the height can be easily adjusted.

Just removing the metal cover and putting it back can tear the coil wires on a tele neck pickup... :(
