Repainting a guitar

I just had two Jackons repainted, they used gel-coat, the same stuff they use on boats. Its hard as a rock, its strong and hard to dent and dosent dent, and no chiping. Anyone here tried it and if so what were your results ? If not give it a try. :13:

This is something I personally wouldn´t even try. Gel paints are generally MUCH thicker than Nitro or even poly, and the more paint the deader the sound ;)

Or are we talking about something different here?

Re: Repainting a guitar

Gel coat? You mean the stuff they put on the hull of boats? I believie
that is a epoxy based paint? I'm with Zerb on this one. Think of a Lil'
jingle bell ringing... Now put a Condom on the jingle bell and ring it?
Gonna sound different. But on the other side of the coin it will be
super durable. I'd hate to be the guy to strip it off. :smack:
