Repair Chip in Humbucker Bobbin?

I got a good deal on a set of pickups that I've been looking for, but one of them has a piece of the top plate of the bobbin chipped off. Unfortunately, the piece is missing. I tested the pickup with a multi meter, and it appears to be okay. I'm wondering if anyone has ever repaired something like this. My idea was to 3D print a section of bobbin, use a dremel to cut it to fit, and use some super glue or something to attach it. Thoughts, concerns? What type of adhesive should I use? I've never attempted this before. I don't really care about cosmetics, I just want to protect the windings.

Pic isnt' working.

How big a 'chip'? If it was small, I'd probably try using epoxy to fill the gap. I'd probably avoid sanding it to fit, so would just get a bobbin topper to clean up the look.

thats not a chip, youre missing 1/4" of the bobbin :) you could try 3d printing something but the coil is very exposed. nick one turn and you have a dead pup

That's what I'm concerned about. Do I need to worry about getting glue/epoxy on the windings? I just want to protect it. This is a fairly pricey pickup.

Well, the wire is coated, and can take being dipped in melted wax, so glue probably won't hurt it. But yeah, that is a pretty significant break right there.

Just thinking out loud . . . but could you live with a nickel pup cover? Problem solved, no surgery.

Re: Repair Chip in Humbucker Bobbin?

I was thinking cover as well.
Pretty sure you can glue a repair piece on with super glue as long as you don't use a ton of it.

I like the pup cover idea, however, I don't think the guitar I was intending on putting this in is routed for pups with covers...
