Replaced bridge PU on RG470 and getting a hum

Hi,

I just removed the stock Quantum pickup in the bridge of my RG470DX (HSH) for a Seymour Duncan Invader and now there's a hum on whatever pickup the five-way switch is set to. The hum doesn't go away when I put my hand on the strings or other metallic parts of the guitar.

I followed these two guides from Seymour Duncan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgcDg8-vcC8 and https://www.seymourduncan.com/images/wiring-diagrams/HSH_5W_1VppSPL_1T.jpg

I removed the connections from the stock bridge pickup. From the new pickup I soldered the black wire to the 'HOT' part of the five-way switch, wrapped the red and white wire together and put electric tape around them, and soldered the green and bare wires together and to the back of the volume pot for grounding. I should note that the stock pick ups had two wires going to the 5-way switch and for some reason Seymour Duncan advises only connecting the one black wire.

I'm not the best at soldering but they look pretty solid. Are the wires connected to the wrong components?

Here are some photos of the solder job:

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you for your response.
I haven't soldered it yet because I thought taping it might be enough to establish contact. Could that be causing the hum?

solder that connection for sure, but that might not be the (only) issue if its humming in all positions. to me, that sounds like a ground issue

I don't see how that would have happened. With the stock pickups there wasn't any hum.
I only removed the bridge pickup wires and soldered the wires for the new pick up. Could that have reversed the connections to the jack somehow?

You need a tech to look at it. The Ibanez schematic is different than the Duncan schematic and to be honest, I am not certain you are equipped to handle this one

I've been a tech for over half a century, and ground problems are the worst. I hate them.
